GMAT- Graduate Management Admission Test is a machine based test required by most business schools for admissions to courses like MBA, MS in Management, MiM (Masters in Management), MFin (Masters in Finance) etc. GMAT is well accepted by more than 6,000 business and management programs worldwide. 

GMAT Exam Pattern

GMAT online exam consists of a total of 91 questions that must be completed in 3 and a half hour.  There are 4 sections; Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal Section.

The Analytical Writing Assessment section has only 1 question and test takers will have 30 minutes to complete it. It judges how efficiently test takers can think, analyze and communicate their ideas. 

Integrated Reasoning consists of 12 questions and 30 minutes will be given to solve it. This section has questions like multi-source reasoning, graphics interpretation, two part analysis and table analysis. It evaluates the test taker’s ability to process information presented in multiple formats from multiple sources and compile it to make sound decisions.

Quantitative section has 37 questions and 75 minutes will be given to solve this section. This consists of data sufficiency and problem solving that use mathematical formulas and calculations.

Last section is the verbal segment consisting of 41 questions to be attempted in 75 minutes. This section is divided into 3 parts- Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning and Sentence Formation.

GMAT Scoring

The GMAT Test Score range for the four sections is between 200 and 800. The Verbal and Quantitative GMAT score hold the highest value; for the Analytical Writing section, test takers are scaled on a 0–6 range and the Integrated Reasoning is scaled on a range of 1–8. The Analytical Writing and Integrated Reasoning sections do not impact the total score of GMAT test. Candidates are measured on a scale of 0-60 for the Quantitative and Verbal sections, while on the Analytical writing section, the scale ranges between 0-6. The Integrated Reasoning section is scaled on a range between 1 and 8.
