US Student Visa Application for Indian Students

If you are planning to go and study in the states, this is one process you cannot avoid. Getting a US visa does not have to be a hassle if you have all the relevant documents and follow the protocol. College Admission Process
Before you apply for your visa, it is important that you know which college you’ll be attending. Therefore it is important that you research your options properly. Your aim should be to apply to as many colleges as you can and get accepted by at least one. For this, you must prove to the university that you can easily incur all the educational and living expenses while you’ll be completing your term in the US.
You will first need to pay the I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fees which is about $200.
When you receive an offer letter from the university, you will have to send it back along with the

2. Your bank statements that prove your funding
Once this process is over and you have proved to the university that you can support yourself and your expenses, they will send you a form called I-20. This form I-20 is a certificate of eligibility of nonimmigrant (F1) status of the student from the university or college. It basically states that the college is satisfied with you being able to support yourself throughout the term and will give you a report date, which is you expected date of arrival at the college or the date when your term begins.

VISA APPLICATION PROCESS
After you receive from I-20, you need to start your visa application process. You need to apply for visa by filling the required information on the visa form. You will also be required to pay a fee of $160. It is important that you book two appointments on alternate days- one for Biometrics at the Visa Application Center (VAC) or Offsite Facilitation Center (OFC), and the day other for Visa interview at the Embassy or the Consulate.
It is important that you book an appointment at OFC/VAC for fingerprints and photo one day prior to your main visa interview.

3. D-160* confirmation page with 10 digit barcode number
